Doctors
Doctors come with multiple levels of skill and specialties:
Junior Doctors have a low level of skill and should not be placed handling patients unless you have no other option. They are the slowest at the job and frequently don’t do their job well. They make great trainees though, especially if they already have a specialty.
Doctors have a medium level of knowledge and ability. While they don’t move as quickly and take longer to come up with a diagnosis than consultants, if you really need doctors you can use these until you get enough consultants.
Consultants have the highest level of skill and knowledge. They can not only train other doctors in the training room, but also work very quickly and efficiently in diagnostic rooms. If you have enough consultants, use one in the training room and the rest for all of your diagnostic rooms. They are very quick in the GP’s office and almost always get the diagnosis on the first visit.
You don’t get many chances to hire a consultant level doctor, so take them when you can get them and train up the rest.
A Psychiatric Doctor specializes in diagnosing and treating psychiatric diagnoses. You need at least one to staff the Psychiatric Office. You can find them available to hire by looking for the book with a blue symbol.
A Research Specialist is required to handle the research of new cure equipment, diagnosis equipment, and improvements. You will find them by looking for the lightbulb symbol.
You also need a Researcher in the final levels to staff the DNA Fixer Clinic.
Surgery Specialists are needed to perform surgeries in the operating theater. At least two surgeons are required per operating theater. You will find them by looking for the surgical scalpel icon.
Nurses
Nurses help treat many different diseases in the hospital. They are needed to staff pharmacies, wards, and fracture clinics. Also. in the event of an epidemic nurses can help quickly vaccinate patients so that they don’t infect others.
Handymen
Handymen help keep your hospital clean, plants watered, and equipment in good working order. Those with higher attention to deal will handle messes and maintenance requests much faster than others. A good rule of thumb is that you should hire at least as many handymen as you have doctors to ensure a clean and well-maintained hospital.
You can also change the settings to have a handyman give priority to one task over others. It’s worth doing this in order to have a group of handymen specializing in trash pickup handling the high-traffic areas, and another small group focused on repairing machinery that hang out near the diagnostic and treatment areas that require routine maintenance.
Receptionist
Your receptionist might be the most important staff member you hire. Without her to greet patients and get them checked in, the hospital would not be able to function and accept patients. Once you hire a receptionist, they go right to work, never taking a break. Be sure you hire the best receptionist available at the start of the level to ensure a well-run hospital.
